Scott Stockdale's sweeping up business and staying away from the desktop.

"I like that this isn't just a desk job. I enjoy being out and about the school, helping out, overseeing my staff and taking care of business," said Kingsland's new grounds and maintenance director, who's pleased to be a part of the local school district's staff.

Before coming to work in Kingsland's halls and on its fields, Bemidji, Minn., native Stockdale was employed at CASE Forensics in Seattle, Wash., and then with the Fillmore Central school district in Harmony.

He chose to apply for the grounds and maintenance position here because he aspires to make a difference in each person's day, be it through sweeping up the day's dust or by manicuring the football field for the Friday night lights game.

He hopes to make Kingsland a nice place to attend school "by acting as an advocate and providing as quick a response as possible to the needs of students and staff."

"I like the satisfaction that comes with completing tasks that help others. I do a lot of that here!" he noted.

"My predecessor, John Dols, did a fabulous job here. I enjoy the challenge of continuing to build on the foundation he clearly worked hard to put in place. It's a great opportunity for me to learn and grow in this career field, and good for my family, too."

Stockdale lives in Preston with his family. He and his wife Heather have two boys, Brendan, who's 12, and Judah, who's 7. "They are so great!" he added.

He spends his spare time riding his motocross bike and likes multiple sports teams.

"I enjoy action movies, I grew up playing hockey, and I have several favorite teams in hockey and football - for college teams, I like the Michigan Wolverines, for NFL, the Seattle Seahawks, the Denver Broncos, the Indianapolis Colts and in NHL, the Detroit Red Wings and the Colorado Avalanche.

"I like to ride my motocross bike - it's a '99 Honda CR 125 - and read, and of course, spend time with my family.

"I am a committed husband and father and strive to add as much good to the world as I can."
