Brad Engeldinger, 43, of Spring Grove, died on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, as a result of an automobile accident near Dorchester, Iowa.
Bradley Young Engeldinger was born on July 23, 1969, the son of Harvey Young and Sharon Lynn (Rickabaugh) Engeldinger in Dubuque, Iowa.
He graduated from Roosevelt High School in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1987. He attended Mankato State University in Mankato for two years and then the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa, graduating in 1996.
Brad had a great love of music and began playing the drums when he was 7 years old. He played with several bands such as "High and Lonesome" and "Dave Zollo and the Body Electric".
In 2004, he was playing with Dave Zollo during the Grand Excursion in Lansing, Iowa, when he met Julia Emery. They were married on Oct. 8, 2005, at her parents' home near Highlandville, Iowa. Together they had two children - Emmet and Ruby.
Brad loved spending time with his children and family, anything associated with the Iowa Hawkeyes, as well as fishing and trout fishing in northeast Iowa. Brad was currently working at Gemini in Decorah, Iowa.
Survivors include his wife, Julia Engeldinger, Spring Grove; three children, Hunter Erickson and Emmet and Ruby Engeldinger at home; his mother, Sharon (Dan) Tourville, Mesa, Ariz.; two nephews, Trae and Troy Engeldinger, both of Des Moines; his father- and mother-in-law, Steve and Laurie Emery, Decorah; sisters-in-law, Jenn (Adam) Bair, Rochester, Jodi Emery, Rochester, and Jill (Nile) Lienau, Highlandville; a brother-in-law, Albert Emery, Highlandville; and niece and nephews: Henry and Ella Bair and Raymond and Earland Lienau.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harvey Young Engeldinger, on Jan. 23, 1992; a brother, Shawn Engeldinger, in October 2010; and his wife, Penny, in October 2011.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 30, at the Big Canoe Lutheran Church, 1381 Big Canoe Road, Decorah, with the Rev. David Andreae presiding.
