We are writing in support of Judge Sturino — the People’s Judge — in the general election.

Upon graduation from law school, Carmaine Sturino began her legal career in Caledonia as a law clerk for the Honorable James A. Fabian. Her practice of law was exclusive to the Third Judicial District.

Judge Sturino was appointed by Governor Dayton in September of 2015, when the Honorable James A. Fabian was required to retire at age 70.

Judge Sturino has spent her career in public service — in our district — with the career aspiration of being a judge.

As a prosecutor she worked for Winona County; as a court-appointed attorney she worked for Winona and Wabasha counties; as a public defense attorney she worked for the State of Minnesota in Winona, Houston, Fillmore and Wabasha counties.

When she had her own private practice, a majority of her work was still through public defense and court appointment work. This component, added to her love for teaching at our universities and volunteering on several different committees helps to show the differences between her and her opponent.

Judge Sturino took the Minnesota State Bar in 2001 and lived in La Crescent and Winona. She has only practiced law in Minnesota. Her opponent has lived and practiced mostly in Wisconsin.

This is why we, the undersigned, believe you should cast your vote on Nov. 8 for Judge Sturino! When voting, be sure to turn the ballot over to vote for the judges.
