The early childhood programs at Lanesboro strive to meet the goals of emphasizing the importance of early learning and early literacy. We welcome you to learn more about our programs and would love to have you join us!

Early Childhood Family Education

Parents are a child's first and most significant teachers, ECFE offers a variety of classes and resources for parents and children, birth through kindergarten age. If you are unfamiliar with how ECFE classes operate, class time is divided into three sections: parent-child activity time - where families explore a classroom filled with developmentally appropriate play and learning activities planned by a teacher; parent discussion time where parents meet with a parent educator to share support, experiences and information about child development and parenting techniques; and children's activity time where children learn with the teacher and paraprofessional and practice social skills as they interact with each other.

Focusing on a relaxed, fun, and creative atmosphere, Lanesboro offers fall, winter and spring sessions on Wednesdays at 8:30-10 a.m., 10:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. and 6:30-8 p.m. If you are interested in attending, please contact the school to confirm the class is in session at the time you would like to attend before attending.

In addition to the regular classes, special classes including monthly open gym, fun day classes such as "Kids in the Kitchen," "Krazy for Kites" and themed classes such as Earth Day and ECFE Birthday Party are also offered. All children and families are welcome and encouraged to attend ECFE classes! ECFE also coordinates community-wide events for seasonal holidays such as Halloween, Christmas and Easter.

Preschool

Lanesboro Public Schools offers two different preschool classes: a 3- and 4-year old class and a 4- and 5-year old class. The focus of our preschool program centers on the five milestones in development: receptive and expressive language, gross and fine motor skills, social and emotional development, self help, and cognitive development.

The 3- and 4-year old class meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays for three hours each day. Morning and afternoon classes are offered with transportation to and from preschool available.

The 4- and 5-year old classes meet on Mondays, Wednesday and Friday for three hours each day. Morning and afternoon classes are available with transportation to and from preschool available.

Lanesboro Child Care Center (LCCC)

At LCCC, we believe that children need a warm, safe, colorful environment and varied experiences that place the emphasis on "play." By providing these things, we feel that a child will grow and develop at a pace that is just right for them. We feel the role of the teacher is to assist the learning process by providing an environment where each child has an opportunity to explore and develop various skills. Our professional staff is responsible for planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum for each age level.

Day care in the Lanesboro Public School system allows children to be comfortable in a school setting. It also is comforting to parents to know that after school their children can go to a safe, enjoyable setting. With the in-house day care, Lanesboro Public School is promoting the value of family first, developing children who are school ready and offering convenient facilities for its patrons.

Children ages 6 weeks to 12 years can be accommodated at LCCC with hours from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
