Chatfield Community Education recognizes the importance of early childhood experiences. Therefore, it is a priority to support and serve families with young children. Programs and services have been designed with the young child in mind.
The Early Childhood Family Education program provides classes and special events for parents and children to attend together. The Building Blocks classes are available on Monday mornings and Thursday evenings. Families choose to participate for a variety of reasons. Some like the uninterrupted parent-child time-others the experience of the teacher-led circle time with music and stories - and other parents enjoy the parent discussion which gives them the chance to discover strategies and tips to assist in the adventures of parenting. Information on the Fall session of Building Blocks will be available in August. Check out the Gopher Gazette, the school website, and the August Community Education ad.
SUMMER ECFE provides playground & story time for families with toddlers & preschoolers. The cost is $5 per child, for the entire summer. Snacks are provided. Join us at the elementary school pre-K playground on Tuesday mornings, beginning June 11th. To register call 867-4521 x. 5022 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Chatfield Community Preschool provides a structured early childhood learning experience. Classes are offered for two age groups (3-year-olds and 4 & 5-year-olds). Through teacher-directed activities, theme-based centers, and small group activities, children develop pre-literacy skills as well as the social skills necessary to function in a classroom setting.
Rhyming, alliteration, letter knowledge, vocabulary, and conversation form the foundation for the preschool curriculum. Curriculum is enhanced by the inclusion of Action 100, which is a literacy program for Pre-K through 6 grade.
All the preschool classes are held in the Early Childhood/Kindergarten wing of the elementary building. Children in the older classes may ride the school bus to or from school, with a bus buddy. Scholarships are available, based on financial need.
For the full day option, children must bring a lunch, and eat on site. Beginning this fall, preschool families may take advantage of Valleyland School-Age Care for before and/or after school.
Registration information for Preschool is available on the community education page at www.chatfield.k12.mn.us, or at the Elementary Office or Community Education Office. If you have questions, contact LuAnn Klevan at 867-4210 x. 5022 or you can e-mail her at email@example.com
