Ann Oeltjen will likely be the newest member of the Kingsland School Board as she had the most write-in votes for the third position open in the Nov. 4 general election.
Incumbents Debra Larson and Doug Plaehn were easily re-elected with 1,454 votes and 1,401 votes respectively. However, the other incumbent, Steve Tart, didn’t file for office and neither did anyone else, leaving one blank on the ballot as voters were instructed to choose three people.
Unofficial results from the county show Oeltjen had the most votes by write-in with 231. Katy Wiersma was second with 117 votes and John Fenske had 105 votes. Several other people were also listed on ballots, as there were 630 total write-in votes.
The school board will meet Monday, Nov. 10, at 6:30 p.m. to canvas the results and determine the official winners.
