Three members of the Fillmore Central FFA Chapter traveled to the National FFA Convention in Louisville, Ky., held Oct. 29 through Nov. 1. Kayla Biel, Alex Love and Domanic Merkel were chaperoned by FFA advisor Jenelle Thorman and traveled with a delegation of over 100 FFA members from southeast Minnesota to join more than 60,000 FFA members from across the country for the 87th annual convention.
While at the national convention, members, advisors and guests learned to “Go All Out” as they attended large group sessions hosted by the National FFA Officer Team where student members and individual chapter programs received national awards and recognition for their efforts over the past year. Local chapter members were inspired by motivational speakers, nationwide company sponsors and were treated to a performance by the National Honors FFA Band and Chorus.
The Fillmore Central students and advisor also enjoyed concert performances by Justin Moore with Easton Corbin and Danielle Bradbery with Scotty McReery and attended the World’s Toughest Rodeo and viewed a hypnotist in action.
The National FFA Career Fair and Expo provided students the opportunity to speak with potential post secondary institutions, future employers and shop in the National FFA Mall.
The students toured Churchill Downs and got to meet FFA members and agriculture industry leaders from across the nation allowing them to learn about their agriculture practices and what their FFA Chapters do.
“Everyone brought home some tremendous ideas for their own agriculture projects and the chapter,” Thorman concluded.
