The Rushford Area Society of the Arts (RASA) is pleased to announce that its first annual Hot Dish Cook Off was a huge success. The fundraising event was held on Sunday, March 12, in the Rushford Lutheran Church’s basement.

RASA’s Hot Dish Cook Off was a huge success and so much fun, according to board member Brenda Heimgartner.

Congratulations to Helen Peterson who won the “Top of the Pot” award for her hot dish, and Carol Rasmussen who won the “Gold Mold” for her Jello entry. Also congratulations to Jessica Heiden for winning the “People’s Choice Award”.

A special thanks to the judges for the event who were Judy Severtson, Martha Larson and Catherine Bakkum.

Winners received Minnesota Vikings’ themed aprons and gift certificates to Burdey’s Cafe in Peterson. Heiden received two free tickets to the upcoming production of “How to Talk Minnesotan: The Winter Musical!” that will be held this weekend.

Cookbooks featuring a variety of dishes presented at the event will be on sale at this week’s performances of “How to Talk Minnesotan: The Winter Musical!”

The funds raised are being used to help finance RASA’s production of “Annie” this summer July 12 - thru 16.

Upcoming play performances

Performances will be at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 17, and Saturday, March 18, and there will be two matinees at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 18, and Sunday, March 19. The production will be put on in the Rushford-Peterson High School theatre.

Advance tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for kids 12 and under. At the door, the cost is $15 per person.

Tickets can be purchased at Rushford Foods, Burdey’s Cafe (in Peterson) or online at brownpapertickets.com (the direct url is http://m.bpt.me/event/2865648).
