Thank you to Commissioners Olson, Kovesci and Pomeroy

Present and future generations won a huge victory recently when the Winona County Board of Commissioners passed a ban on frac sand mining, processing and trans-loading operations within the rural parts of the county.
We are all indebted to commissioners Greg Olson, Marie Kovesci and Jim Pomeroy for voting in favor of the ban.
They understand the value of protecting our bluffs, precious groundwater, property values, roads, and our way of life, for us and for future generations.
The interests of our people were put ahead of the profits of the frac-sand corporations.
Hundreds of engaged Winona County citizens made this ban happen. Under the able leadership of the Land Stewardship Project, they put up yard signs, contacted the commissioners with post cards and phone messages, wrote letters to the editor, and spoke with informed passion at hearings.
This was democracy in action!
